Resinall has a reputation for outstanding service, quality products
and reliability in the specialized printing ink, surface coating, rubber,
and adhesive industries.
This information page was designed as a product guide for various applications.
It does not show our complete line. When customers have particular
application requirements, we modify existing products - or design new resins
- to meet their needs. Please select a product line from the list below.
The information in this page is based on laboratory evaluation and field
experience. It is correct to the best of our knowledge. Since use and application

- Hydrocarbon
Modified Rosin Esters
-
This resin series involves the reaction of various modified tall oil
fractions with hydrocarbons. We call them hybrid resins, or
hydrocarbon-modified rosin esters. Resinall was one of the first producers
to commercially develop this class of resin. These products are now among
the resins of choice for most lithographic ink vehicles. They have
displaced many traditional rosin-based products by offering a superior balance
of properties at lower cost.
-
- Hydrocarbon Resins:
Aliphatic
- Aliphatic hydrocarbon resins are a very diverse family of resins. They
have somewhat limited compatibilities which can be harnessed as set improvers
and in economically sensitive applications.
-
- Hydrocarbon Resins:
Aromatic
- Aromatic hydrocarbon resins are the most soluble / compatible of all the unmodified
hydrocarbon resins. By virtue of this they can be used in adhesives,
rubber and pigment wetting / co-resin applications for oleoresinous printing
inks.
- Phenolic Modified Rosin
Esters
-
- Phenolic modified rosin esters are the premiere resins for oleoresinous
printing inks. They can be used for pigment wetting in letdown
applications, especially in sheetfed systems where fast set and rub resistance
are of concern.
- Modified Rosins
-
- Modified rosins are a specialized group of resins specific to printing inks,
and the rubber industry. There is also opportunity for use in adhesives and
as process aids.
- Phenolated Hydrocarbon
Resins
-
- Phenolated hydrocarbon resins are high softening point, highly
compatible hydrocarbon resins which find use in the rubber industry as process additives
and curing aids. They also find utility in offset printing inks as
pigment wetting and co-resins where set / abrasion resistance are of concern.
- Hybrez
-
- The HybrezTM resins are
the newest addition to the product line and represent a leap forward for
Resinall's industry leadership in hybrid resins. This new and growing
group of advanced technology resins is characterized by an outstanding
combination of performance and economy for lithographic applications.
- Rosin Esters
-
- Rosin esters are modified rosin products which find use predominantly in
adhesives as tackifiers and / or process aids in other industries.
-
-
- Rosin Maleic: Alcohol
Insoluble
-
- These are conventional, rosin-modified maleic resins. They find use in
overprint varnishes and as modifier co-resins in a wide range of lithographic
applications. Products in this group range from lacquer modifiers for
C-type gravure inks to vegetable oil soluble resins for sheetfed overprint
varnishes.
-
- Rosin Maleic: Alcohol
Soluble
-
- Rosin maleic- alcohol soluble resins are a diverse group of resins which find utility in printing inks and coatings especially where chemical resistance and FDA ratings are of concern. Their wide range of acid numbers, composition, and softening points afford an excellent range of choices.
